Identifying and Evaluating Apraxic Speech Deficits Using Magnetometry.
An understanding of the relationship of speech and language symptoms to lesions in the frontal region of the dominant hemisphere depends on a fuller description of the speech phenomena than can be provided by transcriptional or acoustic investigation alone. This paper provides examples of how articulatory movement tracking can aid in describing apraxic speech deficits.

Neural Basis of Acquired Amusia and Its Recovery after Stroke.
UNLABELLED Although acquired amusia is a relatively common disorder after stroke, its precise neuroanatomical basis is still unknown. To evaluate which brain regions form the neural substrate for acquired amusia and its recovery, we performed a voxel-based lesion-symptom mapping (VLSM) and morphometry (VBM) study with 77 human stroke subjects. Structural MRIs were acquired at acute and 6 month ...
متن کاملWorking Memory Deficits and its Relationship to Autism Spectrum Disorders
Background: There is a wealth of research done in developed countries on the investigation of the working memory (WM) performance in people with high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) (IQ>70), with different reported findings. There is a dearth of similar studies in developing countries. In addition, the findings suggest that WM is possibly influenced by culture. The present study inv...
متن کاملRecovery from Lesion-Associated Learning Deficits by Fetal Amygdala Transplants
Bilateral lesions of the amygdaloid complex result in elimination or attenuation of the conditioned freezing that is normally seen in the conditioned emotional response (CER) paradigm and the active avoidance (AA) task. We observed the effect of amygdalar tissue transplantation on the ability of lesioned (central nucleus of amygdala, CeA) rats to learn CER and AA. In two groups of adult Wistar ...
